Who Shall Separate Us From the Love of Christ?

Every day that we live we are faced with many challenges and trials.  And each day we are reminded of God’s love for us.  The world tries to take that away from us by persecution, or mockery, or just negative and wrong thinking.

It’s a spiritual battle in which God gives us the strength to engage and to win. Let’s look at this classic and beloved passage for a picture of the bond between ourselves and the Savior.

Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:5

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
