I Will Always Have Hope

Hope does not disappoint

Psalm 71:14
But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more.

Isn’t this world of ours a crazy place?! Every day I am just bombarded with so much that I thought could never happen. Daily news brings actions by one group or another that is so divisive and controversial, and so many of us look around and say to each other, “What in the world is going on? Who thought that was a good idea? What will they think of next?” I, however, will always have hope.

So much of what is going on is not God-honoring and is a reflection of a world that has eyes on earthly and temporal things.  Ultimately they have set their hearts on pleasing themselves, not on pleasing God.  Many people are full of anger and lack hope, and although the source of our hope has never changed, our eyes have turned away and sought hope from a myriad of other sources. We have convinced ourselves that these sources such as houses, cars, luxury shoes, clothes, and purses, or people,  gambling,  government,  political groups, or sports, drugs, alcohol, or you name it, will make things “better.” These things may only bring pleasure or fun for a moment, but sadly they leave us unsatisfied, empty, and without true hope. Despite all of this, I will always have hope.

Our hope is now and always has been in the one true God.

Things come and go.  Governments change.  Countries rise and fall. Sports teams win and lose. Substances are prone to abuse and have many negative consequences and ultimately never satisfy. And yes, our world has even dealt with widespread disease and pandemics before.  We have survived floods, earthquakes, and severe conditions throughout time.  But unfortunately, what has changed is how we deal with these changes and trials.

In fact, we have not looked to God at all as we should.  Most importantly, God is now and always has been on the throne.  His listening ears are attuned to our prayers. Thus He loves His children and wants fellowship with them, and He accordingly upholds us in what seems to us a crazy world. There is no situation that catches Him off-guard or by surprise.  For this reason, this website and blog aim to return our attention to our true source of Hope.

On earth as it is in heaven.

Our Hope is in the Lord.

Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

Hope for today.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
