Tuesday Prayer Focus
On Tuesdays, pray for your spouse and his/her needs and family situations; also, pray for our law enforcement and military throughout the nation and the world.
Hallowed Be Your Name
Today we shift our prayer study on the Lord’s Prayer from Our Father in Heaven to Hallowed Be Your Name. Learning to praise and adore the Lord is a habit that we should learn, and consequently, it comes from practice and intentional thinking. Our prayer life becomes much richer and more well-rounded when we give up thinking that God is just there to give us what we think we need. Yes, He does want to be there to meet our needs and hear our petitions, but prayer is much more than that. Adoration changes our focus from self to the Lord that we praise.
Hallowing God’s name is the concept of setting it apart as holy or lifting it up and exalting it. His name should not be used in a coarse or low or casual manner. The opposite of hallowing His name is using His name in vain, or carelessly.
Below are a few more examples of hallowing God’s name. The focus is always on the greatness and majesty of the Lord. I usually write down these passages and pray them to the Lord during prayer times.
Psalm 99:5
Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His footstool;
Holy is He.
Psalm 66:1-2 NKJV
Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!
Sing out the honor of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
Psalm 63:4
So I will bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
