The Angel of the Lord Speaks to Moses from the Burning Bush July 15

Good morning!

We will start our day looking for the Angel of the Lord as He speaks to Moses from the burning bush.

Happy reading and happy coffee!

The Angel of the Lord Speaks from the Burning Bush

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”

And he said, “Here I am.”

Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now, therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

Points from the Passage

In this passage, we see the following:

  • The Angel of the Lord was visible to Moses from the burning bush.
  • The bush was flaming but not consumed.
  • God positively reveals Himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  • Moses was afraid to look at Him because he knew that He was the Lord.

John 1:18 states

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

This leads us to conclude that this is another appearance of the pre-incarnate Christ standing in the midst of the burning bush, and that is why Moses was able to see Him.

Have an open heart for the Lord to speak to you and guide you in your life today.

In any passage of Scripture that we read, there are many lessons and many calls to action.  I’m amazed that the Lord appeared to Moses in such a striking way, and that Moses stopped what he was doing to go check out this incredible sight.  of the Angel of the Lord in a burning bush that was not consumed.

Moses also had amazing respect and a wonderful fear and reverence for God’s holiness as the Lord revealed Himself to him.

The Lord miraculously revealed His plan to Moses for the deliverance of the children of Israel out of Egypt and Moses’ part in that plan. The Lord had seen their oppression and intended to send them to a good land.

Give time to the Scripture and personal reflection since this is the key way that the Lord speaks to us. Let go of the sins and weights that keep you from serving God.
