Rejoice in the Lord
We are continuing this week with our brief study on the words joy and rejoicing from the book of Philippians. This is a book in which the Apostle Paul expresses joy and rejoicing throughout. He speaks of rejoicing in the day of Christ. As mentioned in our last post, Biblical joy is not a fleeting feeling of happiness. It is also not a “good feeling” because something good just happened or things in your life are going well. Instead, joy refers to the “extreme happiness with which the believer contemplates salvation and the bliss of the afterlife.”
Philippians 3:1-3
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. 2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
