Praying Always July 19-25

Your Kingdom Come

Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Our prayer focus this week will be on the second part of the Lord’s Prayer: Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

This part of the prayer can sometimes be a little tricky to understand. In a few verses in the New Testament Christ refers to the kingdom of heaven being at hand meaning very present or near.

Matthew 3:2 and Matthew 10:7

Even though these verses show that God’s kingdom is very near and present, that heavenly kingdom is not yet fully realized on earth.

We also know that even though God is in control of this world, that there are many who do not do His will.  There are many enemies to His will.  Therefore we should pray for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven
