But Deliver Us from the Evil One
But Deliver Us from the Evil One
From last week:
James 1:13-14
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
God does not tempt us, but we are drawn away from the Spirit-filled path by our own lusts and desires. Pray for the Lord to preserve you from severe temptation and to help you live a Christlike life for His honor and glory.
Our prayer focus continues with section two of the Lord’s Prayer. Section one emphasized the Lord and His name and His will.
Section two moves more into our needs and requests. This week’s emphasis is “Deliver Us from Evil.”
This part of the Lord’s prayer emphasizes why we pray and how important prayer is in deliverance from evil. We must regularly go to the Lord in prayer and ask for deliverance and protection from the evil around us. We should not rely on our own strength to resist the devil.
