I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

This is one of the last “I Am” statements of Christ. The passage begins with a sweet assurance from Christ to the disciples: “Let not your heart be troubled.”  In this passage, the Lord hints of His upcoming departure.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The Way

Thomas asks, “How can we know the way?” Jesus answers that He is the Way.

The Truth

Thomas says, “Lord, we do not know where you are going.” Jesus answers that He is the Way, and the Truth.”

The Life

Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Life, both physical and spiritual, comes only through Christ. In John 1 as well as in Genesis 1, we see Christ as the Creator of life. He is the Savior Who is the only path to this eternal life.

John 14:1-7

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

The Father Revealed

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
