I Am the Good Shepherd Part 2 October 5

 I Am the Good Shepherd.

We are continuing in our series of the “I Am” Statements of Christ.  We saw in the passage from John 10 that Christ calls Himself the Good Shepherd. Jesus watches over and cares for His sheep, and the sheep know His voice and won’t listen to a deceiver.

John 10: 2-5, 11-16, 25-27

Other verses from the New Testament give additional shepherd names to the Lord.

Hebrews 13:20

Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant.

I Peter 2:25

For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

I Peter 5:4

And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

 In summary, the New Testament identifies Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd, the Great Shepherd, the Shepherd of our souls, and the Chief Shepherd.  Is He your Shepherd?
