Praying Always August 16-22

And Lead Us Not Into Temptation

And Lead Us Not Into temptation

James 1:13-14

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

God does not tempt us, but we are drawn away from the Spirit-filled path by our own lusts and desires.  Pray for the Lord to preserve you from severe temptation and to help you live a Christlike life for His honor and glory.

Our prayer focus this week will be on section two of the Lord’s Prayer. Section one emphasized the Lord and His name and His will.

Section two moves more into our needs and requests. This week’s emphasis is “Lead Us Not Into Temptation.”

This part of the Lord’s prayer stresses the importance of praying for God to protect you from areas and situations where temptation might overwhelm you. We are all susceptible to temptation and therefore to sin.  This request is basically asking God to keep you in places in your life where temptations are not all-encompassing or consuming you so that you might live a Godly and victorious life.
